Fishers High School junior set for Miss Volunteer America pageant

Miss Volunteer America is one of the largest pageants offering scholarships focused on volunteerism. “I have been so honored to win in several pageants over the years and I’m so grateful to have been chosen as the 2023 Miss Indiana Teen Volunteer,” Sharma said. “I can’t wait to spend this year representing such a wonderful organization.”

Fishers High School student spreads kindness through volunteer work

Vani Sharma’s passion is to spread kindness while giving back to the community.

“It’s such a fulfilling experience being able to serve, but also gain a lot of gratitude yourself as well,” Sharma said.

Fishers teen participates in New York Fashion Week

A Fishers teen recently participated in New York Fashion Week, modeling for Marc Defang, the head designer of Marc Defang New York. 

“I had always wanted to be a part of Fashion Week,” said Vani Sharma, a sophomore at Fishers High School. “While I was a reigning queen as the International United Miss Preteen (2020-21), I decided to take the next step forward and was super excited to get the opportunity to walk at the NYFW.” 

Fishers teen concludes reign as Miss International United Pre-Teen with the talent show, award

Vani Sharma recently concluded her reign as the 2020-21 International United Miss Pre-Teen after a busy year of fundraising for Care for Children. Sharma, a 15-year-old sophomore at Fishers High School, organized an international talent show through Zoom. 

“We had over 100 participants as part of the virtual talent showcase and, with all of the contributions and fundraising that was involved in it, we were able to sponsor over 12 children for a year,” Sharma said. “That includes all their meals, transportations and education.” Sharma’s fundraising did not go unnoticed. She was presented with the President’s Volunteer Service Award, among other honors, by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb.

In honor of National Volunteer Week, Fishers celebrates the dedicated individuals who have donated their time and talent to our community with our 2021 City of Service Awards celebration. This year’s Community Servant of the Year award is presented to Anitha and Vani Sharma. The sisters have volunteered for the past 10 years with organizations like the Ronald McDonald House and the Riley Cheer Guild.

Indiana Sisters Gives Back to the Community

For Anitha and Vani Sharma, everyone is a star–and they’re on a mission to help every star shine its brightest. The dynamic sister duo initially started volunteering in 2011 at their local Ronald McDonald House, and they’ve been using their talents and passions to give back to their community of Fishers, Indiana ever since.


Pay it Forward: 11 year old recognized for volunteer work

Vani Sharma is only 11 years old, but she’s already a veteran volunteer at Ronald McDonald House, as she’s helped to serve meals to the families of hospitalized children there for almost six years now.


Fishers girl crowned Miss Indiana Pre-teen with National American Miss Pageant

Vani Sharma, 11, was recently crowned Miss Indiana Pre-Teen with the National American Miss Pageant. The competition was held July 26-28 at the Westin in Indianapolis. NAM helps foster a positive self-image while encouraging girls to be involved in their local communities.


Fishers youth named state’s top volunteer

Vani Sharma, 11, of Fishers has been named one of Indiana’s top youth volunteers of 2018 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism.
